Is there anything more beautiful than a room full of books? In my humble opinion, no. Many an afternoon have I spent wandering the aisles of a bookshop picking my next novel, planning my next holiday in the travel section, or salivating over cookbooks. And nowhere brings the charm, the wonder, the inspiration, the beauty, as famously as Daunt. This is an institution, as can be agreed by the multitude of Daunt tote bags spotted all over London.
With 5 shops around London you can easily nip into your nearest local, however my favourite is their Marylebone branch as it has the most breathtaking travel area. The staff are always extremely knowledgeable and you can easily go in with no idea what you want, only to leave half an hour later with an armful of books after a passionate chat with one of the staff members.
Must do: Get yourself (or someone you love) a monthly book subscription - one of the best presents a book lover can get, you will receive a beautifully packaged surprise every month (it's always Christmas with Daunt), and some of the best books I have read in recent years have been through this, rather than the books I have picked myself.
