Wilton’s Music Hall

Down a cobbled street straight out of a Sherlock Holmes novel you can find one of London's oldest music halls in a otherwordly little corner of Wapping. This iconic venue is still going strong as a performance venue after over 160 years (originally opened as a pub in 1690), putting on all sorts of gigs, theatre performances and everything in between. And it ain't half bad for a cheeky drink and a bite to eat either even if you aren't booked to see anything.
.
🎭 You'll get an idea of what @wiltonsmusichall is about by checking out what's on: there's an all-male performance of a Gilbert & Sullivan classic; a modern re-telling of Buffy the Vampire Slayer; you've got Shakespeare; you've got silent films with live orchestra scores; there's classical music and science experiments, poetry and cabaret... just throw a dart at the calendar and you're sure to find and enjoy something completely unexpected and wonderful. This is a national treasure that we should all be celebrating!
.
Also big shout to @hackneycolliery who absolutely blew the roof off recently with their crazy mix of brass band and experimental robotic music with a dash of protest music - check these guys out wherever they're playing 👍
